भारतात जन्म घ्यायचाच असेल तर कुठे घेईन? केरळात! -गीता गोपीनाथ.

केरळच्या  मुख्यमंत्र्यांनी श्रीमती गीता गोपीनाथ यांची आपले आर्थिक सल्लागार म्हणून निवड केली आहे. त्यांच्याबद्दलची एक आठवण.

केरळच्या 'इमर्जिंग केरळ' या कार्यक्रमात गीता गोपीनाथ बोलत होत्या.

भाषणाच्या सुरवातीलाच त्या म्हणाल्या :

समजा जन्म घेण्याआधी जर मला विचारले की, "भारतात तुला कोणत्या राज्यात जन्म घ्याचा आहे असे निवडण्याची संधी मिळाली तर तू कुठे जन्म घेशील?"

त्याला मी उत्तर देईन "केरळात."

पुढे त्यांनी केरळात जन्म घेण्याची तीन मुख्य करणे स्पष्ट केली.

१. मुलगी असल्यास जन्माआधी गर्भपात होऊन मरण्याची शक्यता नाही. 

आणि मुलगी म्हणून जन्म झाल्यावर आयुष्यात भेदभाव होण्याचीही शक्यता नाही.

2. जन्मानंतर मोठे होण्याआधी मरण्याची शक्यता नाही.

3. शालेय शिक्षण, आरोग्य याची हमी.

या शिवाय दर डोई उत्पन्न, शिक्षण, साहित्य, उद्योग अशा अनेक क्षेत्रात पुढे असलेले राज्य.

"जय महाराष्ट्र!, जय शिवाजी!!" म्हणण्याआधी हे आपल्या इथे, महाराष्ट्रात किंवा भारतात इतरत्र का झाले नाही आणि का होऊ शकत नाही याचा गांभीर्याने विचार व्हावा.
